Colleagues,
I am writing to underline the urgency of Labourstart's current initiative to oppose the oppression of labour movement activists by the Iranian state.
Go to the following to follow the campaign:
http://www.labourstart.org/cgibin/solidarityforever/show_campaign.cgi?c=416
As Labourstate cites:
We must all redouble our efforts in the next few days to prevent thisbarbaric sentence from being carried out, to prevent the execution ofthe teacher Farzad Kamangar, and to push for the release of alljailed worker activists in Iran.
As we all know we must support trade union activists across the globe and seek to secure their safe treatment.
Messages of support should be sent to Labourstart.
Thank you Comrades

Comrade Ian,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
As you say we must demand that this treatment is resisted.
Although we expect this totalitarian state to hate the freedom of trade unionism we must not desert our sisters and brothers who show defiance.
All sisters and brothers please send a message of condemnation via the Labourstart campaign.

Hi Peter,
That's great to hear from you and I am not surprised that you are following international developments like this.
Thank you for supporting the Labourtstart campaign. Are you able to attract the support of sisters and brothers across Africa?
Please forward the link to the campaign to anyone you can.
Thanks Peter
Ian
Ian,
As a trade unionist in the UK it is important that we are constantly reminded of what it must be like to do our work in other countries.
What is happening in Iran is sickening and I will do as much as I can to support the Labourstart campaign.
Glad to see that your blog is trying to get things done rather than just chatting.

Congratulations Sir,
You have brought to light the atrocities taking place in a country too often outside of the labour movement's map.
Because we are worried about the general agression of the Iranian state we forget their persecution of the 'usual suspects' that is our people.
Follow the links please comrade and do what you can do.
This is a good blog point Ian - well done.
I have added this additional point as too few of your UK betheren have not said enough on this blog.
Please sisters and brothers support the focus on Iran - do not let our people their down.

Hello Peter,
As usual many thanks for your contribution to the blog.
We must support the LabourStart focus here as you say as Iran too often gets overlooked.
Please consider colleagues what you can do via branches, regions and national bodies.
Cheers
Ian
