Happy 2008!

Colleagues,

A quick look at the international labour news headlines as usual shows the typical mix of good and bad news for workers and their unions across the globe.

I look forward to working you again, or for the first time, in 2008.
I hope that we can add to the on-going struggle to rebuild and rejuvenate the British trade union movement and support our sisters and brothers (like those pictured here from the COB in Bolivia) in their struggles overseas and find ways to build solidarity between us.

Cheers! Ian

A Global Working Class?

Colleagues,

Following a successful launch earlier this year at TUC, Paul Mason's book Live Working or Die Fighting: How the Working Class Went Global has received mix reviews.

Please have a look (or even buy it) reviews at the book's site (http://www.liveworkingordiefighting.co.uk/) and let me know what you think.

For me, although an enjoyable read, it doesn't properly make the link regarding class consciousness that has historically been relevant to working class movements. Only my view though and I am interested in what you think.

Ian
