Dear Colleagues,
Today marks a critically important day in the political calendar, Windrush Day.
It should mark a day of reflection and celebration, which it does in part, but in truth today also continues the spotlight on the shameless mis-treatment of Windrush-era UK citizens at the hands of the Home Office.
As recent press coverage reveals, far too many of those who faced shocking harassment, and unlawful deportation are still without compensation despite Home Office assurances that payment would be speedy.
As an illustration of the continuing mis-treatment of Windrush-era UK citizens I appeal for your support for Equity member Ace Ruele who faces deportation to Jamaica, even though he has no rights of residency or citizenship there.
The details of his case are outlined in this article: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/ace-reule-home-office-deportation-b1841799.html
